Today I did triceps and shoulders at the gym. It was an early morning start (6.30am) and not one a relished. I’m okay with getting up at early, but I just don’t love training in the morning – I don’t feel as though I have enough energy in the morning.
Today’s workout seemed quite short, but I guess that’s just because I seemed a little half asleep. Here’s what I did:
- Prison bar triceps extension: olympic bar + 45kg. I really like this bar and the grip feels good
- Z-bar triceps extension: olympic bar + 20kg.
- Bar shoulder press: olympic bar + 20kg.
All of the above exercises were 5 sets of 5 reps (my current workout regime) and with a 3-minute rest in between.
Food was a little bit different today. I did cheat in the evening time, but here’s a picture of my breakfast that follows the meat and nuts breakfast regime that I mentioned yesterday.
Sirloin steak and cashew nuts. Following the meat and nuts breakfast, and a healthy start to the day.
A gluten free ciabatta, sliced beef, and some spinach. I do really like this as a small lunch, but it does have a lot of carbs for such a small meal (20grams in the ciabatta alone), so I do need to make a mental note of watching my carbohydrate intake.
Dinner was cooking for my family and being easily swayed by what they like, with a little twist on what I liked. It was chicken wrapped in bacon, stuffed with goats cheese and served with kale/pistachios/onions and butternut squash. A great meal, followed by a dessert of strawberries and ice cream (the naughty, moreish kind). And then, a number of glasses of rose wine.
So, food wasn’t a massive great start today. In fact, it was a rather bad day consuming 2,856 calories but on a positive note I kept my carbs under what MyFitnessPal recommends. That system (in regards to analysis) is truly strange.
How I’m Feeling
I am feeling quite good today, but I know when it comes to the weekly weigh in/fat check that I probably will be a little annoyed with myself that I allowed myself to eat a little poorly. I sense a lower tollerance level coming on and I need to be aware of that.
